S020860 POLIZEI FIVE PLACE RIBBON BAR. (Kleine Ordensschnallen)

BACKGROUND: The wear of Awards, Medal Bars and Ribbon Bars were addressed in regulations of April 28TH 1937 and followed the established directives that had been previously laid down. When an award was instituted the introductory orders would prescribe the proper form of wear with most of the awards being permitted to be grouped together on a medal or ribbon bar. The medal bars were intended for wear on the walking-out dress and formal uniforms while the ribbon bars were intended for all other forms of dress. Strict regulations listed the required order in which awards were authorized to be worn on the medal and ribbon bars.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The roughly, 5/8" tall, 3" long, five place ribbon bar features a horizontally ribbed, WWI Iron Cross 2ND class ribbon, a Combatants Cross of Honor 1914/18 ribbon, with a gilt washed, stamped alloy, crossed swords cypher, a Polizei Long Service medal ribbon with a silver washed, stamped alloy, Polizei emblem cypher, a Commemorative Medal of March 13TH 1938 ribbon and what appears to be a 1936 Olympic Games 2ND class Medal ribbon, all mounted on a magnetic sheet metal base plate. The reverse of the base plate has a horizontal pin back device intact. The ribbons show moderate to heavy color fading and age and usage toning.
