BACKGROUND: On acceptance into full-time or auxiliary police service individuals were issued a Dienstausweis, (Service Identification Card), for use as identification and a Dienstpass (Service Pass), for internal administration to record the individuals police service record.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 5 7/8" x 4 1/8", thirty-two page, Polizei-Dienstpass, (Police Service Pass), with a mid-weight, pale green card stock cover with four, dark green printed, thin, and one thick vertical stripes to the outside edges and a taped seam. The front cover features a dark green printed police emblem consisting of a right facing, Police eagle with out-stretched wings, clutching a canted swastika in its talons encompassed by a vertically oval, oak-leave wreath and Gothic script, "Polizei=Dienstpaß", (Police Service Pass), and, "Dieser Polizei=Dienstpaß ist nur für den inneren Dienstgebrauch bestimmt und ist kein Ausweis!", (This Police Service pass is for internal service use only and is not for Identification!). The interior front cover and the first page have printed regulations for use of the book and the police code of conduct. The book has handwritten entries that begin with its issue at "Hamburg", on "1. 4. 1943", and the entry has the authorizing signature of a "Hauptmann d. Sch. u. Komp. Chef" with the appropriate police inkstamp. The active police service entries indicate the individual served in three assorted police units including, "4. Res. Komp.", and "115. Pol. Revier". A military service entry indicates the individual had served in WWI from, "22. 4. 15", until, "22. 7. 16", when he was release from service as a result of some type of illness or wound. Other entries list the individual’s personal statistics, including next-of-kin, education, and religion. Additional entries include vaccinations and a medical examinations where the individual was found conditional fit for service. All the entries have the appropriate authorizing signatures and/or inkstamps. The pages show light age yellowing but are all intact.
