BACKGROUND: The wear of Awards, Medal Bars and Ribbon Bars were addressed in regulations of April 28^TH 1937 and followed the established directives that had been previously laid down. When an Award was instituted the introductory orders would prescribe the proper form of wear with most of the awards being permitted to be grouped together on a medal or ribbon bar. The medal bars were intended for wear on the walking-out dress and formal uniforms while the ribbon bars were intended for all other forms of dress. Strict regulations listed the required order in which ribbons awards were authorized to be worn on the ribbon bar.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The four place ribbon bar is roughly, 5/8" tall and 2 3/8" wide features a horizontally ribbed, Austrian WWI Red Cross Honor Medal ribbon, a Commemorative Medal of 1^ST October 1938 ribbon, a Polizei Long Service medal ribbon with a silver washed, stamped alloy, Polizei emblem cypher and a Hungarian WWI Combatants Fire Cross Medal ribbon all mounted on a magnetic sheet metal base plate. The reverse of the base plate has a horizontal pin back device intact. The ribbons are in overall very good condition with light age toning. Of Note: The placement of the ribbons would seem to indicate that the recipient was an Austrian national, as the Austrian WWI Red Cross Honor Medal ribbon is position at the front of the bar.
