BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc..

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 8 1/2" tall, 6 1/4" wide, light-weight cardstock, black and white close-up, portrait style photograph of a young policeman wearing a visor cap and service tunic. The visible uniform details include the cap insignia, shoulder boards and collar tabs. The photograph has the embossed photographer’s name and location, "Foto-Wieser Konstanz". The photograph comes housed in a roughly, 9 1/4" x 7", gilt washed, magnetic sheet metal frame. The photograph is in overall good condition with minimal age yellowing. Nice image.
