N046359 1934 DDAC HONOR LAPEL PIN. (Aufschlagnadel)
BACKGROUND: The DDAC, "Der Deutsche Automobil-Club" (The German Automobile-Club) was instituted in September 1933 by NSKK Korpsführer Adolf Hühnlein as an independent organization that was similar to the American Automobile Association. The club consisted of personnel who owned a car, and who were not members of the NSKK.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A silver and enamel lapel pin, in the form of a 1/2" tall, vertical oval, along whose base extend sprays of laurels. Against the white enamel backdrop of the oval is a black, stylized eagle, articulated in silver, with "D.D.A.C.," also in silver, across its breast, and in whose talons is clutched the translucent red, circular surround to a black, mobile swastika. Both the swastika and its surround are also edged in silver. All of the aforementioned is enclosed by a dual oval, the innermost translucent red, the other black, each edged in silver. To the center of the spray of laurels to its base is a small rectangle with "1934," in black, against it. Extending from a circular base to the reverse is a bent, rifled pin, 2" tall. Although almost all of its original silver wash has been retained to both the reverse and obverse, and its enamel work is unmarred. Very nice.
