N043158 NSDAP JUSTICE OFFICIAL'S VISOR CAP. (Justizbeamte Schirmmütze)
BACKGROUND: Like all other organizations within the Third Reich the Justice organization had its own distinct uniforms and insignia. As with other groups, there uniforms where initially a mix of those from the old Republic with a mix of that from the new. In September 1934 new uniforms introduced for wear by Justizbeamte (Justice Officials). This example was worn by an individual serving in the German Reichs Ministry of Justice as a career official, at the mid occupational level (would be roughly equivalent to a company grade Officer).
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A scarce pre-1934 Justizbeamte visor cap. Very nice green wool body and crown with a black velvet centerband and is nicely piped in bright red cord around the crown and the top and bottom of the cap band; the top cap band piping has a few nips, but nothing distracting. Insignia consists on an early 1929 1st pattern cap eagle and the typical Reichkorkarden in metal. Comes completed with and original chinstrap. Chinstrap (green and red alternating weave) has been restored to the cap, but have been moved a little to it the chinstrap properly. Vulcanfiber visor has an nice high gloss. The left half of the visor is a little loose as some of the threads that secure it to the base of the cap have given away, however as a whole it remains firmly in position. The crosshatched underside of the visor is a pale yellowish-tan color. The approximate size 56 sweatband is a light tan colored natural leather, with the end overlap positioned on the side (over the left ear) secured with small rounded brad. The forehead is perforated for better air circulation. The leather is still in fully supple, excellent condition with some slight darkening from honest wear and use. Rust colored, thick oilcloth style liner - while the linen-like cotton side lining is a slightly paler shade of rust. The top color has faded a bit. There is a diamond shaped sweat shield in nice condition, with a maker's name ""Gottfr. Dahl"" (Gottfried). This company was located in the city of ""Neuss"", on ""Kapitelstr."" (Kapitel Street). Scarce visor in nice condition.
