N040658 DDAC VEHICLE PENNANT. (Wimpel)

BACKGROUND: The DDAC, "Der Deutsche Automobil-Club" (The German Automobile-Club), was instituted in September of 1933 by NSKK Korps Führer Adolf Hühnlein as an independent organization that was similar to the American Automobile Association. The club consisted of personnel who owned a car, and who were not members of the NSKK.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A canvas construction pennant, 34cm across with a 21cm tall hoist edge. Machine embroidered to both sides of its white field is a black eagle, with "D.D.A.C." to its breast, and a mobile swastika within a red circle in its talons. The eagle and swastika are surrounded by a dual oval, from whose cardinal points extend red machine embroidered bands with black edging immediately beyond them. The edges of the pennant are reinforced with double stitching, and its hoist edge has a 3/4" wide tunnel loop sewn to it in ersatz material. A nickel-silver plated metal spring clip protrudes from the top of the tunnel loop, and a nickel-silver plated alloy hook exits the other end. Nice untouched example.
