N037257 HJ FLAG POLE FINIAL. (Fahnenspitzen) 

BACKGROUND: With the introduction of new "Hitler Jugend," "Deutsches Jungvolk," "Bund Deutscher Mädel," and "Jung Mädel" flags and pennants in 1934, the pole tops were also standardized. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The finial is 13 1/2" tall overall, with a 7 1/4", tapering cruciform "spear point," whose base leads to a flattened, ball-shaped collar, 1" deep with a 1 1/4" interior diameter, from either side of which extends 3" long flanges with dual perforations to each of them. It would appear that this alloy finial originally had a silver wash to it, of which only traces remain. Moderate age darkening, and light surface scratching and pitting, is evident throughout.
