N029859 NSDAP MEMBER'S BOOK. (Mitgliedsbuch)
BACKGROUND: Upon successfully passing the required criteria, each individual who became a member of the NSDAP was issued a membership book which acted as both an identifying document and to record dues paid to the party.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 4 1/16" x 5 1/4", forty-eight page NSDAP membership book, with an early political eagle and wreathed, static swastika, stamped in gold, to its red, hard cover. o the first page is printed "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" (National-socialist German Workers’-party), along with the party’s Munich address and contacting information. "Ausgabe 1935" (Edition 1935) is beneath that. A "Vorwort" (Foreword) from Adolf Hitler is to pages three to five, and an "Ehrentafel" (Roll-of-honor) listing the sixteen martyrs to the Nazi cause (killed during the abortive Munich "Putsch" in 1923) is to the sixth page and seventh page. Page eight features, prominently, his "Mitgliedsbuch No." (Membership-book Number), followed by his name, profession, address, date and place of birth, and the date of his entry into the Party, being Aug of 1939. To the base of this page is the stamped, facsimile signature of the "Vorsitzender" (Chairman) "Adolf Hitler," and the "Schatzmeister" (Treasurer) "Schwarz." An ink stamped seal may be seen between the signatures. The facing page, entitled "Personal=Ausweis" (Personal=Identification) features a black and white photograph of the bearer, to the upper right corner of which is ink stamped a Nazi Party seal, and underneath of which is his handwritten signature. Beneath his signature is printed a statement that the recorded information is correct. Quite a few party stamps are pasted into the book from 1939 to 1943. Various other hand ink entries.
