N023959 REICHSPOST VISOR CAP EAGLE. (Mützen Abzeichen)
BACKGROUND: As with most nations the German Reichspost, (National Post), service was a uniformed organization and uniform regulations were altered shortly after the NSDAP achieved political power on January 30TH 1933. One of the standard uniform items was a visor cap that came with the postal version of the national eagle emblem.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 1936 pattern, die stamped, natural zinc construction national eagle clutching an oak-leaf wreath which encompasses an embossed, canted swastika on a slightly pebbled, recessed background field. The left facing eagle features extended, wing tips with a roughly 58mm wingspan. Reverse of the eagle is a mirror image of the obverse. Reverse of eagle has both of its attachment prongs intact. Faint hard to read makers mark.
