N017258 HUNTING LICENSE. (Jagdschein) A 5 3/4" x 4 1/8", half-fold, mid-weight, cream fiber paper, with black printed, hand written and stamped information. The front has a printed border of oak leaves and acorns and the heading "Gebührenfreier Jahresjagdschein" (Annual Hunting license Free of Charge) and a black and white, ink-stamped, riveted on photograph of the recipient with his personal information hand written beside. It appears the license was issued on the 16th of May, 1938 and was valid till 31st of March, 1939. The first page to the interior has a grid consisting the months of the year above and the names of animals to the left, with blank and darkened areas in the grid and the legend to the upper left corner "Jagdzeit" (Hunt Time) for blank spaces and "Schonzeit" (Closed Season) for darkened spaces. The opposite page has the heading "Zur Beachtung!" (Please Note!) With three entries below. The first "Keine Schonzeit genießen" (Enjoy No Closed Season) and a list of animals below, the second stating that non named animals are off limits for the entire year, and the third a clarification of certain hunting seasons for particular animals. The reverse cover has the heading "Hauptregeln für das Verhalten der Schützen auf Treibjagden" (Head rule for the behavior of the marksmen on drive hunts) with ten entries printed below. Other than some usage fraying to the edges, usage soiling to the cover and a couple of oxidization stains to the interior from the rivets the license is in good condition.

"This license is issued in WHITE color for youths under the age of 18. The WHITE HP's wre given to the German youth free of charge---with no permit fee required. Very rare when compared to the regular green or yellow HP's."
