N010460 N.S.B.O. "ORTSGRUPPE BOCKHORN" FLAG. (N.S.B.O. Hoheitsfahne)
BACKGROUND: The RBA, "Reichsbetriebszellenabteilung" (National-factory-cells-department), was founded in January of 1931 and was renamed the NSBO, "Nationalsozialische Betriebszellen Organization" (National-socialist Industrial-cells Organization), in March of that year. This organization acted as the NSDAP’s alternative to labor unions and communist worker groups in industrial factories. Officially a national organization, the NSBO was concentrated in the heavy industrial centers, with very little representation outside these areas. The NSBO was absorbed into the DAF in October of 1934, and ceased to exist in March of 1935.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly 135cm x 112cm dual sided, multi-piece, linen bunting and cotton construction NSBO Ortsgruppe political level unit flag. Flag features a red base field with a central, 85cm diameter, white circular disc to center with black mobile swastika to each side. Upper left corner, (canton), features a 28cm x 19cm, dark brown wool panel with white chain-stitched unit location, "N.S.B.O. Ortsgruppe Bockhorn", and silver wire trim. Fly and top and bottom edges of the flag are trimmed with 2" long bright twisted silver/aluminum fringe. Hoist edge retains all of its original seven, nickel/silver plated alloy suspension rings. Flag has had five patches sewn onto its red field to repair tears. The central white disc shows light age toning and a few stains. Scarce early N.S.B.O. flag.
