N009857 SA RESERVE MEMBER'S ARMBAND. (Armelbinde)

BACKGROUND: The SA established reserve units as early as 1927, open to fit men over the age of forty. They were formally organized in 1929, and their structure was revised in 1933, creating SA-Reserve I, open to those between the ages of eighteen to thirty-five, and SA-Reserve II, open to those between the ages of thirty-five and forty-five. In addition to other distinguishing insignia, personnel of SA-Reserve II wore swastika armbands. SA-Reserve II was absorbed into the regular SA in 1935.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: An approximately 8" x 4" grey/green wool armband, upon which is sewn a 3 1/4" diameter white cotton disk, with a black mobile swastika machine woven to it. The armband’s vertical seam is to the reverse. Moderate age soiling and wrinkling is evident. Nice untouched example, very scarce varient.
