N009358 NSDAP MEMBERSHIP CONTRIBUTION CARD. (NSDAP Mitgliedskarte) A 4" x 5 1/4", third pattern, half-fold, mid-weight, pink cardstock card with black printed Gothic script and handwritten and ink-stamped particulars. The printed script to front of card includes the heading, "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeitspartei", and, "Mitgliedskarte", (Members Card). Handwritten script includes the recipients name, birth date and address. Additional printed and inkstamped script indicates the individual applied for party membership on "1. Juli 1940", and was accepted on "30. Sep. 1941". The card has an embossed NSDAP "Reichsleitung" emblem with national eagle to the lower left corner. The card has the facsimile ink-stamped authorizing signature of Franz Xaver Schwarz the NSDAP "Reichschatzmeister", (National Treasurer). The two interior pages have twenty-seven, 3/4" wide, dues paid postage style stamps with authorizing ink-stamps with dates from "1942" to "1944" and a single 1 3/16" wide stamp of a higher value. The back cover has printed text that was used to indicate that the card holder had been issued a Party membership book but it has no entries. Of Note: Normal procedure after application for membership in the NSDAP was for the individual to be given a temporary membership card, valid for three months. After acceptance into the party the individual would be given this type of membership card which was valid for two years, after which time, if the individual paid the appropriate dues and supplied the party with two photographs, a membership book would be issued. That the reverse cover on this card has not been filled out possibly indicates the individual did not complete paying his dues and was not accepted into the Party. Other than two pin holes to the upper edge, the card is in very good condition.
