N008363 "REICHSBAHN" COLLAR TAB.
(Kragenspiegel)BACKGROUND: Uniforms and insignia for those employed by the German Railways were adopted in 1924, and remained unchanged until Third Reich patterns replaced them in 1937. Collar "rank" insignia actually denoted the wearer’s pay grade, and the accompanying devices their assignment or speciality.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 1933 or earlier, right collar tab, in the form of a 75mm x 35mm parallelogram, against whose black velvet obverse is a gilt wire, machine embroidered, "L"-shaped rank stripe. Its red wool reverse extends to form visible piping along the tab’s obverse. The red wool is open to the center of the reverse, where its buckram backing may be seen. Couple of small moth nips to the piping. Nice untouched example.
