N002260 NSRL/DRL BRONZE SPORTS BADGE IN CLOTH. (Leistungsabzeichen) An award badge for the NSRL, "Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesübungen" (National-socialist State-league for Physical-fitness), which was incorporated into the DRL, "Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen" (German State-league for Physical-fitness), without changing their award insignia, in 1938. This cloth version of the award, which would have been sewn to an athletic uniform, has, machine woven to its black rayon base, in bronze-colored threads, a 2 1/2" diameter ring, within which is an eagle with down-swept wings and a black, mobile swastika to its breast, with a spray of laurels to its base, emanating from a "1944" date. Awarded for excellence in a single sport, it would have been worn only during the year indicated. Nice untouched example still on its original factory roll backing material.
