N000458 RAILWAY PROTECTION POLICE EM'S OVERSEAS CAP.
(Feldmütze)BACKGROUND: The Bahnschutzepolizei, (Railway Protection Police), were established, by the RBD in 1933 with volunteers from the SA and SS, to protect the railway network. Originally they wore a navy blue uniform, but this was eventually changed to blue/grey circa 1941.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Mottled blue/grey, wool/rayon blend side cap with gently sloping, fold down side panels. Boat form cap has light grey wool piping to top edge, and down front center seam. Machine woven tri-color cockade, on a mid-blue rayon diamond base, flanked by soutache, and machine stitched to cap. Machine woven, Bahnschutzepolizei pattern, national eagle in white threads on a cut-out woven blue/grey rayon base, handstitched to front. Cap fully lined in mid-blue ribbed rayon. Lining well marked Rbnr #’s. Size 57 and dated for 1943. Cap in overall very good condition with a few minor moth holes. Untouched original condition. Very nice.
