U000756 M1851 COLT NAVY REVOLVER HOLSTER.

BACKGROUND: Hugely popular with both Union Army and Navy Officer, over 200,00 examples of this revolver where produced between the years of 1851 and 1865. The revolver saw extensive service through every theater of the civil.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice quality leather construction for a Colt "Navy" 36 cal revolver. Length on the leading edge, to where the flap folds over is approximately 12". Approximate overall length is 15"’. Cut from a single piece of leather, folded over and stitched for the inside seam. Holster flap has a single hole that hooks onto a large brass stud in the closed position. The belt loop is approximately 2.5" x 2" of folded over leather being attached by six of the typical Civil War period "Union Style" brass rivets. Over all condition of the leather is very good, still pliable. It shows the normal age crazing you expect to see after 150 years. There is one small repair on the eyelet hole for the closing stud where two small metal staples have been added. Very attractive example.
