C25855 ITALIAN PACKAGED QUININE TABLETS.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A small, light green, cardboard box, 3 1/4" by 3" by 11/16", with text stamped in black ink inside a black border "Chinino Dello Stato" (Quinine of the State). The box has been opened and one side has a broken seal that has the text "Lato Da Aprirsi" (Side to Open). The interior of the box has an approximately 1" wide piece of cardboard folded and glued to bottom of the box to form four separators that create five sections that each have a glass tube about 2 3/4" long by 7/16" in diameter. Each tube has a cork in one end that is sealed in place with a waxy substance and all still contain ten small light blue/green pills, although they vary in color slightly from tube to tube. All the tubes are labeled with light blue paper with black ink, two with "10 Compresse Inzuccherate Di Bisolfato Di Chinina" (10 Compressed in sugar of Bisulfate of Quinine) and three with "10 Travolette Inzuccherate Di Bisolfato Di Chinina" (10 Tablets in sugar of Bisulfate of Quinine). All the tubes appear to be made by the same manufacturer. Also inside the box are two pieces of folded pink tissue paper with printed instructions for use. On the bottom of the box is a blue ink-stamp that has a "4" below which is an indecipherable word with the date "1943" and another indecipherable word below. The box is in great condition with all its contents intact. A very nice accessory for a tropical setting.
