C17955 SOVIET QUILTED WINTER PANTS.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
These soviet quilted winter pants are 40 1/2" long with an approximately 34" waist, a 26" in seam and vertical slash side seam pockets. They are made from a, khaki colored, ribbed, cotton twill and quilted with vertical seams. The pants are lined with a grey cotton. There is a two button french fly with two more buttons at the waist. The buttons on the fly are metal dish type with the text "Solide Elegant" with one of the bottoms on the fly being replaced with a wooden button and one of the buttons at the waist is missing. There are six belt loops around the waist with a 4" vertical slash to the back with cloth straps to either side, one with a two pronged buckle, for adjustment. There were six buttons around the waist for suspenders, all marked "Cleo", but one from the left front is missing although the backing stud is still retained. The pant cuffs have 5" vertical slashes to the back and two web laces, from 8 1/2" to 10 1/2" in length, that are frayed at the ends. There is a 1 3/4" square black ink stamp to the inside of the right ankle with Cyrillic writing and what appears to be the date "1937." Of Note: This style of padded winter clothing became popular in 1943-44. Except for some moderate usage stains, one minor repair and a couple of missing buttons the pockets and all the stitching is still intact making these a nice example of Russian winter clothing.GRADE***1/4 PRICE $110.00
