C15554 IMPERIAL FRENCH ARMY PHOTOGRAPH POSTCARD. This black and white postcard is 3 ½" high and 5 ½" wide. It is a photograph taken during the First World War. It consists of 8 men standing behind a flag that is held up by two sets of tripod built with there rifles. The flag is similar to their National one, however, in each corner it has two laurel leaves cross at the bottom, with 109 in the center. The writing on the flag states, Honneur et Patrie. Which means, honor and Homeland. There is some more writing on the bottom. On the very top center, the print states; 109e Regiment d’infanterie. Translates to, 109th infantry unit. On the reverse, the card shows that it has been used in the post, with the ink stamp at the top. It is now quite faded and little can be made out of its location. As well as, the message sent is quite simple; Bonjour = Good Day. The address is still intact, and it shows to us how simple they needed to be at the turn of the Century. The top print of the card states a warning, that not all countries would accept this form of correspondence and to be informed. This card is in good condition with minor yellowing caused by age.
