C15153 CASED ITALIAN ISSUE SURGICAL CATGUT. A surgical ligatures made normally from sheep intestines used for sutures in closing wounds. It remains in the box and as never been opened. The box itself is a wine red color and it is 4 ½ inches long and 1 inch wide. The sealer and also the description of the content is on the front of the box and as faded into a very light rose. It was probably white at one point. The description is in Italian and at the top there is a red cross framed by a blue circle. All of the writing is in blue, as well as, it is framed by a blue rectangular. From top to bottom it states; CATGUT N.5 sterilizzato = Metri 1 = istituto chimico FARM. MILITARE FIRENZE. Which can be translated to; Catgut, N. 5 Sterilized = one meter = chemical institute, military pharmacy, Florence. The fact that it as never been opened and that it is still sealed, makes this a great addition to any military medical collection.
