C13050 CANADIAN/BRITISH WWI 1908 PATTERN WEB BELT. A 3" wide tan/khaki webbed canvas belt with brass fittings. Either end of the belt feature a crimped plate with three grommet holes. One end passes through a sliding length adjustment buckle, is then cinched by a brass retaining loop, and has hooks proceeding from the top and bottom of its crimped plate which wrap around the belt itself. To the center of the belt are doubly rivetted, at diagonal angles, two extended tabs. Each of these terminate, at one end, in brass crimped plates with two grommet holes, and, to the other end, with sliding length adjustment buckles. "W.S." has been handwritten to one of these tabs. To the interior of the belt, between the aforementioned rivets, is inkstamped a "W" and what may be two sets of numbers. Two, and possibly three, other inkstamps, which are also most likely numbers, are also faintly visible to the inside of the belt. A typical age patina is to all of the brass fittings, and the webbing is age and usage soiled, but is not overly worn.
