C12355 FRENCH WWI M1886 LEBEL BAYONET.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
An epée bayonet, made for the 1886/93 Label 8mm rifle, with a "German silver" hilt and a cruciform, 20 1/2" blade, with its original blackened metal scabbard. What comprises its metal cross guard is a circular muzzle guide, beneath and to the left of which is the movable stud which would lock the bayonet to the rifle along the stud guide, and a recurved quillon. The stud unfortunately has seized with age. The "German silver" hilt has a 1/4" groove down the muzzle guide side. The only marking on the hilt is a "S" at the end of the groove. The cross guard and scabbard have pitted with age while the "German silver" hilt retains about 70% of its finish with some surface spotting and age darkening and the blade is in great shape with only a few small nicks.GRADE*** PRICE $117.00
