C11555 WW1 ISSUE CANADIAN CEF UTILITY "TRENCH" KNIFE.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A multi-purpose knife featuring a 3 1/2" single-edged blade, a 4" Marlin spike, used for undoing knots, and 1 3/4" long, double-edged blade, all in steel, all folding into a 4 3/4" aluminum housing. The double-edged blade has a toggle to the center of one of its sides which is accommodated by a notch in the housing when in the folded position. To the base of the single-edged blade is an indistinguishable maker’s mark. Stamped on one side is a makers mark "M&D CANADA 1916" and a "C - broad arrow" . The housing exhibits numerous small scratches and pitting as well as an "X" scratched in under the toggle, and all the steel parts show moderate to heavy oxidization and surface spotting. A fairly scarce piece of field kit.
