C09753 SOVIET ORDER OF THE RED STAR.
Established by decision of the Presidium of the USSR Central Executive Committee, in April of 1930, as an award for "conspicuous services in the defence of the Soviet Union in war or peace." This heavy, two-piece construction, silver and enamel award takes the form of a convex, five-pointed star, whose arms are enameled in red, with a silver hammer and sickle between arms of star to its base, and a horseshoe-shaped, silver centerpiece. A Red Army soldier, with a rifle and wearing a greatcoat with the early "shelm" headgear, is embossed to the centerpiece. Scrolled around the image is "AC?9+G!C33 %E+M EGC!=, E?+)3=a5G+E[!" ("Pralyetarii Vsyech Stran, Sayedinyaytyes’!" or, Workers/Proletarian Of-the World/Land, Unite!), with "EEEC" beneath. To the reverse, its central, threaded post and 1 1/4" diameter, convex retaining disc are both intact. Above this screw-back post is stamped ";?=+G=[y5" and ")%?C" ("Manyetnay Dvor," or, Monetary Court - the manufacturer who minted it), and a "2593211" serial number is scratched beneath it. Typical age darkening is evident to the silver, and the details to the centerpiece have worn. All of its enamel is intact.GRADE ***3/4 PRICE $94.00
