C076361 BRITISH 2ND ARMY FORMATION SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: The army was formed in December 1914 during World War I. The British Expeditionary Force was split as it was becoming too big to control. It was active from 1914-1918 and again from 1943-1945. They went ashore on D-Day as part of the 21st Army Group. The blue cross is in the style of St. George on a white shield with a crusader’s sword superimposed on the upright of the cross.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A shield shaped white canvas background with a blue printed cross with a dagger in yellow to its middle. It is approximately 4.5cm x 4cm with glue remnants on it’s reverse which may indicate being removed from a scrapbook. It has light/moderate aging. Nice example.
