C06754 ITALIAN WAR SERVICE MEDAL 1915-1918. The ribbon is 6 ½" long by 1 1/2" wide. The ribbon is made from synthetic material, and it is the colors of Italy; red white and green. The medal is 11/4" wide in diameter, and ,it is made from bronze. On the front there is a relief of Vittorio Emanuel the 3rd. He is dressed in combat uniform. From the bottom moving clockwise it is engraved; Guerra per l’unita d’italia, which means. War for a united Italy. On the reverse, the relief is of a winged Valkyrie. She is held up by two soldiers symbolically above their grave. From bottom moving clockwise it states; coniata nel bronzo nemico. Which translates to, coined in the enemy- bronze. This medal is in good condition with minor discoloration to the ribbon.
