C065762 "PRINCESS LOUISE FUSILIERS" SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: Their roots can be traced back to Halifax Nova Scotia in June 1798 where Sir Edward Cornwalis formed his own local militia. Official authorization came in 1867 as the "Princess Louise Fusiliers". Several name changes took place where in 1869 the regiment was named "66th The Halifax Battalion of Infantry" and then again in 1879 to the "66th Battalion Prince Louise Fusiliers (named after the wife of the Governor General at the time Marquess of Lorne). 1915 saw the reversion to the original name of "Princess Louise Fusiliers."

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A machine embroidered shoulder flash measuring approximately 12cm x 3.5cm consisting of a yellow wool background with a green wool overlay that has stitched in red thread "Princess Louise Fusiliers." It appears to have been removed from a uniform with some light fraying, but is a nice clean example.
