C059562 BRITISH ROYAL TANK REGIMENT INJECTED MOLDED PLASTIC CAP BADGE.

BACKGROUND: The British Tank Regiment was formally known as the "Tank Corps" and "The Royal Tank Corps". It was renamed in 1939 and is made up of two regiments; 1st and 2nd Royal Regiment. The official motto is "Fear Naught" while the unofficial motto is "From mud, through blood to the green fields beyond."

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Due to the shortage of metals that existed towards the end of 1940 other materials were sought out. Injected molded plastic badges became the alternative. This badge, which is convex to the center measures approximately 4cm x 3.5cm features a Mark 1 tank central to the design with laurel leaves to either side. A Kings Crown intersects at the top. The bottom scroll is inscribed "Fear Naught." The reverse flat with a tang to either side and is stamped "A. Stanley & Sons Walsall." A very nice example.
