C059163 BRITISH I BLACK WATCH ( ROYAL HIGHLAND) CAP BADGE.
BACKGROUND
: A Scottish Infantry Regiment and senior regiment of the Highland Brigade. The Black Watch was created as part of the "Childers Reform" in 1881 when the Royal Highland Regiment (The Black Watch) amalgamated with the 73rd (Perthshire) Foot.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped, silver alloy badge measuring approximately 8cm x 6cm, that consists of the St. Andrew with Cross within an oval that is inscribed "Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" (No one shall touch me with impunity). Surrounding the oval is a wreath of thistles. This is all overlaid on a diamond cut star of the Order of the Thistle. It is surmounted by a Kings Crown and the profile of the Sphinx to the bottom. The reverse is a mirror image of the front with two lugs. Shows the expected light age toning, but overall excellent condition.
