C05452 ALLIED SAFE CONDUCT PASS. A 8" x 5", printed paper leaflet with, to its obverse, a triple red border framing a red American eagle with shield, and a British lion with crown, above, in black, "Safe Conduct." Underneath the heading is, "The German soldier who carries this safe-conduct is using it as a sign of his genuine wish to give himself up. He is to be disarmed, to be well looked after, to receive food and medical attention as required, and is to be removed from the danger-zone as soon as possible." The facsimile signature of H.R. Alexander, "Commander-in-Chief, Allied Armies in Italy," as well as a translation into German of the above, is to the base of the obverse. To the reverse is "Passierschein" (Safe-conduct), spelled out in red outline at a diagonal angle, over the heading "Fallen - kurz vor Schluss?" (Killed - short for Conclusion?), and a five-point Geneva convention order detailing the rights of prisoners-of-war. Very light age yellowing is evident, but the pass is otherwise in excellent, unmarred condition.
