C052763 CASED BRITISH "TELESCOPE STEREOSCOPIC" FIELD GLASSES.  

These type of glasses were known by the British Army as 'Donkey Ears'. This set consists of the carrying case, field glasses and mount. The 65 x 27 x 26.5 cm wood box, has carrying handles and a hinged latch able top. Stenciled to the top of the box is "OS 1062 GA, TELESCOPE Stereoscopic, No 3 Mk 11 B, OS 4668 CASE" and a "broad arrow". the field glasses consist of two, roughly 27 cm tall, vertical lens bodies joined by a central, horizontal circular joining bracket with swivel width adjustment dial at bottom. Lens bodies have a rounded top edge and the horizontal objective lenses each have a small extended, circular, protective sheet metal shield. Lenses stand up perpendicular from the horizontal eye sockets, and the central joining bracket can be adjusted so the lens bodies can fold down into a horizontal position for a wider range of vision. The glasses are embossed to the bottom of the right lens body "TELESCOPE STEREOSCOPIC, No 3 Mk II B, 1941, REGd No 274, O.S.1062 G.A." There is also a semi oval with a combined "RL" which is the trade mark of the manufacturer Ross of London. The optics are still work although the left lens is slightly smoky and the right lens has moderate fungal spotting. The reticle pattern in the right lens is still adjustable. The mount is in excellent condition and appears fully functional. Included with the case are 6 colored lenses, a cleaning shammy, cleaning brush, part number tag and inspection tag. Other than the left eye piece having part of the bakelite eyecup broken off and the slightly obscured optics, the case and glasses appear to be complete.
