C04455 AUSTRALIAN SOLDIER'S PHOTOGRAPH.
BACKGROUND:
Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A black and white photograph, roughly 4 1/2" x 2 3/4, of four Australian soldiers, in tropical dress and helmet, standing on a small road running through a dry sandy field. On the reverse is printed the photograph paper maker, two numbers "6" and "8" and hand written in the lower corner "2398". The photograph is in overall excellent condition being bright and crisp with some minor age yellowing and a couple of tiny wrinkles.
