C044359 ITALIAN M35 TANKERS HELMET. A round bowl shaped helmet, about 9 1/2" in diameter. The body of the helmet is made from fiber covered with black leather. Circling the rim is a 1 1/2" wide, 1/2" thick leather covered pad above which is a 1 1/2" wide strip of stiffened leather. Both pad and strip have vertical seams at the rear. Above the leather strip on either side of the helmet are screen covered ventilation holes, 11/16" in diameter. Extending from the rim is a three piece protective leather flap that starts just in front of the ears and runs around the rear offering protection to both the ears and neck. There are two leather ear flaps that are 3" wide where they join the helmet, one extends about 5" and tapers to a 1" wide curved tip with a single prong roller buckle, while the other extends a total of 12" tapering down to a 5/8" wide strap with five adjustment holes for the last 5 1/2". The six fingered, tan leather, liner is cut out of a single piece of leather. There is a single hole in the end of each finger though which the original size adjustment string is still attached. Stamped in black ink to one finger is the size number "57". There is also another partial inkstamp to the back portion of the liner. The liner is still very soft and supple. The entire interior of the helmet under the liner is covered with felt padding. Excellent condition.
