C033658 BRITISH CIVIL MKII AIR RAID DEFENSE HELMET.

BACKGROUND: The A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) organization was responsible for procuring and issuing of Civil Defense helmets in the UK during WW2. Helmets where issued to workers in areas and factories that where likely to be bombed by the Luftwaffe.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Standard MKII military production example. Three holes drilled in the side apron to signify it was rejected for military use and then re-issued to the A.R.P. Painted battleship grey for use at either a dockyard or factory. Complete original MKII pattern liner, sized 6 3/4 and dated for 1940. Rack number "114" hand painted to the side of the helmet. Factory/company stencil to front "S.C & I.Co". Complete original MKII chinstrap Nice example of an A.R.P. helmet.
