C032958 ITALIAN LIEUTENANT-COLONEL'S SERVICE TUNIC. Decent example of a WW2 Italian officers tunic from the "Pinerolo" Division. The tunic features four exterior pockets, a four-button single-breasted front closure, an open neck, lay-down collar and upswept peak lapels. The larger buttons to the front closure, and the smaller buttons to the pockets and shoulder straps, are all in medium olive/green bakelite, and all have their original stitching. The pleated patch breast and hip pockets each have straight-edged button-down flaps. Ribbon bars for six awards sewn in place over the top left breast pocket. The 30mm x 85mm collar tabs are constructed of black and orange rayon and each have a single star. The sewn-on shoulder straps are of the same material as the tunic. Gilt rank tress, consisting of stripes, with the top stripe forming a circular loop, are mounted on cut-out grey/green base, handstitched above a gilt star to each sleeve. The configuration of this army-style tress would indicate the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. A vertical tail skirt vent is to the reverse. The unmarked interior is fully lined in grey rayon and has a vertical slash pocket to the left breast. Roughly a size 40. Nice example.
