C032656 BRITISH 78TH INFANTRY DIVISION SHOULDER FLASH.
BACKGROUND:
The British 78th Infantry Division, also known as the Battleaxe Division, was formed specifically for Operation Torch from regular British Army units. After landing in Algiers in 1942, they continued in Tunisia, then in Sicily, through all of Italy, finally ending the war in Austria.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A black cloth patch, about 1 7/8" square, with a gold, machine embroidered, battle axe head. The edges have been folded over and stitched. The patch is in good condition being still bright with some small holes from attachment stitching.
