C032362 "FIRE WATCHER" LAPEL BADGE.
BACKGROUND
: A fire watcher, who was armed with a bucket of sand, a bucket of water and a stirrup pump was responsible for looking out for incendiaries and extinguish them before they could spread. A law was passed in 1940 that required factories and businesses to appoint employees to lookout for incendiary bombs outside of the working day.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A silver metal allow with a red enamel front that measures approximately 2cm x 2cm. Some of the enamel has chipped off the front. The reverse features a curved "horn" stud that slips into a button hole. Nice example.
