C03149 DUTCH NSB "JEUGDSTORM NEDERLAND" CUFFTITLE.
The Dutch, NSB, Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging, (National Socialist Movement), founded on December 13TH 1931 by Anton Mussert, was a nationalistic Dutch fascist political party that had based itself on the German NSDAP. After the German occupation of Holland in May 1940 the NSB readily collaborated with them and made minor political gains by absorbing smaller Dutch fascist political groups. On December 14TH 1941 the Germans officially authorized the NSB as the only legal political party in Holland and all other political parties were forced to merge with the NSB or disband. In May 1934 the NSB established a youth branch, NJ, "Nationale Jeugdstorm", (National Young Storm Troopers), based on the Hitler Jugend, The NJ was sub-divided into two different male and female sections based on the age of the personnel as in the German youth groups. Male Instructors with Officer’s ranks were authorized wear of a cufftitle with the NJ sea mew logo. Homemade variant NJ cufftitle. Roughly 10 1/2" long, 1 1/16" wide, woven black rayon cufftitle with a subdued checkerboard type pattern in the weave and hand embroidered script, "Jeugdstorm NEDERLAND", (Young Dutch Storm Troopers). The embroidered script is done in alternating strands of gilt bullion and white yarn and sits in high relief on the cufftitle. Cufftitle is bordered on top and bottom edges in white rayon braiding. Reverse of cufftitle still retains most of its protective paper backing over a white linen underlay. Cufftitle shows light age soiling and gilt bullion shows moderate verdigris. Interesting cufftitle.GRADE ***1/2 PRICE $ SOLD
