BACKGROUND:
Issued to all qualified pilots in the Italian Airforce. When Italy surrendered to the Allies in 1943, Aircrews loyal to Marshall Badoglio where given new badges struck with-out the fascious symbol. Crews still loyal to Mussolini in the North, did exactly the opposite, the crown was removed while leaving the fascious.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 1943 version with-out fascious. Takes the form of an eagle in flight with the crown. Solid struck alloy, gilt washed with a 76mm wing length. Reverse is complete with its original, high quality, pin and locking catch. Very nice.
