C029456 WW1 AUSTRALIAN MOTOR TRANSPORT "MT" SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: During the First World War metal shoulder flashes were used to help distinguish Commonwealth troops of different regiments and countries from each other. They were changed to cloth for battle dress in the Second World War with metal flashes only used on dress uniforms.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A Motor Transport shoulder flash made of stamped brass, about 1 1/16" by 11/16", which consists of the letters "M T" joined by two horizontal bars. The reverse has two soldered on copper eyelets for a retaining pin. The badge is in good condition with a some minor pits to the obverse and some light age patina to the reverse.
