C029356 COMMONWEALTH "INF" SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: During the First World War metal shoulder flashes were used to help distinguish Commonwealth troops of different regiments and countries from each other. They were changed to cloth for battle dress in the Second World War with metal flashes only used on dress uniforms.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped brass Infantry badge, about 15/16" by 7/16", consisting of the letters "I N F" joined by two horizontal bars. The reverse has two soldered on copper eyelets for a retaining pin. The badge is in good condition with a couple of minor pits to the obverse and some light age patina to the reverse.
