C029159 ITALIAN MILITARY MERIT CROSS.
BACKGROUND:
First issued in 1918 for personal who served in the Great War. The award remained the same until 1941 where it had some minor modifications.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 1918 version. Cross measures 39mm x 39mm. Front has the image of a star with a rayed background. The reverse bears "V.E. III" for King Victor Emanuel III, with the inscription "MERITO DI GVERRA". Original rind and medal loop. Complete with a 16cm length of white and blue ribbon.
