C029059 ITALIAN MILITARY VOLUNTEER MEDAL.

BACKGROUND: First Instituted on the 21st April 1948, the medal was issued to all who participated in the war from 1940 to 1945. The medal can be found with several different ribbon types.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Circular, die-struck bronze medal is approximately 33mm in diameter. Obverse has a nice crowned, female, bust image with the inscription "PER L’ITALIA". Reverse images of Male figure with a shield with the inscription "VOLONTARIO DI GVERRA MCMXL-MCMXLV". Italian style, fixed sideways medal loops. Complete with original 18cm length of purple ribbon. There is a hole in one section of the ribbon that has been sewn closed. Nice example, attractive award.
