C028756 WWI "CANADA", SHOULDER FLASH.

BACKGROUND: During the First World War all troops of the Canadian Expeditionary Force wore metal shoulder flashes on their uniforms to help distinguish them from other Commonwealth troops.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped brass shoulder flash, about 2" by 1/2", in the shape of a slight arch, with "Canada" embossed to the obverse. The reverse is a mirror image of the obverse which has double mounting prongs. Embossed to the reverse is the manufactures name and date "Caron Bros. Montreal 1916". The flash is in good condition with an overall age patina, some verdigris to the base of the attachment prongs and some small usage bends.
