C026858 WWI BRITISH ARTWORK POSTCARD. A light-weight, brown cardstock postcard, about 5 1/2" 3 1/4", with a small drawing of a British soldier writing on a wall the text "More ‘Baccy’", "Better Fighting", "Quicker Peace", and a typed address "per J. Cairncross Esq. Hon. Sec., The Members, The United Club, Puket, Straits Settlements." which was a British Crown Colony on the Malay Peninsula. The postcard was produced by the "Over-Seas Club Tobacco Fund" and was sent with tobacco or cigarettes to be sent back home to solicit donations to the Tobacco Fund. Hand written on the reverse is "Mrs. Jas. Lethbridge, R.R.M.3, Glencoe, Unk." which is a small community in the Scottish Highlands. Other than some minor wear to the edges and a few minor stains the postcard is in very good condition. An interesting card from a time when smoking was considered good for you.
