C026758 WWI BRITISH SOLDIER'S PHOTOGRAPH POSTCARD.

BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A black and white photograph postcard, about 3 1/2" x 5 1/2", of a British soldier wearing his service dress uniform and a visor cap, with one hand resting on a chair and the other holding a cane, standing in front of painted backdrop. The photograph is in good condition with some staining to the reverse and depression lines around the soldier from where it appears some one has traced.
