C026458 WWI CANADIAN SOLDIER'S PHOTOGRAPH POSTCARD.
BACKGROUND:
Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A sepia toned photograph about 3 5/8" x 5 1/2", of the head and shoulders of a Canadian soldier in his service jacket wearing a visor cap with what appears to be the unauthorized 198th Infantry Battalion "The Buffs" cap badge. Except for some age toning and soiling and a couple of broken corners the photograph is in good condition.
GRADE***1/4 PRICE $27.00
New Info added Jan 11th 2008
Peter:
I believe this soldier is probably the British Royal Berkshire Regt as opposed
to 198th CEF. He has a British style collar without collar dogs whereas
Canadians generally have collars.

Hugh
