C024056 WWI US PISTOL LANYARD.
BACKGROUND: Lanyards were used for knives, compasses, wire cutters, pistols and other objects that a person did not want to loose or misplace.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A braided brown cord lanyard about 33" in total length, made from a single piece of cord, looped back on itself, with the ends fixed side by side in a crimped brass fitting with an attached spring clip. The fitting is stamped "Pat. Feb-20-17". Part way up the lanyard is a brass friction ring that is used to adjust the size of the loop. The lanyard is in good condition although it is lightly soiled and has a slight oily feel to it while the clip and friction ring are in working order with an overall age darkening.
